Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG (2015)

CAR GARAGE | Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG (2015) | Mercedes has demonstrated a battery-powered SLS called E-Cell, and has even promised to build a few for sale, but we'd be very surprised if the SLC Followed suit. A pure-electric SLC would be just too expensive for the car's intended price point, and Mercedes is well aware That the market for electric vehicles is still developing. A gas / electric hybrid option is another matter, and SLC Could well materialize if sales are sufficiently strong to satisfy the bean-counters Mercedes. Predictably, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG will have unique styling inside and out. Cable says company sources describe exterior appearance as being "contemporary retro," with a "visual tone," recalling the mid-1950s original 300SL Gull wing coupe.

Is also expected to have wide tracks  and an exaggerated wheel arch treatment. "Artist renderings published by both Auto car and Britain's CAR magazine suggest the SLC will also sport a version of Mercedes' new "soft nose" corporate face, with the usual wide, single-bar grille and large Trista emblem; plus three large frontal water ducts; a domed hood; and humped fenders topside with crisp creases. Cockpit details are unknown at present - Likely Because they're still being worked out - but we expect the SLC will answer criticism by borrowing an SLS fewer switches and other bits visible from mainline Mercedes models.

Befitting its' twiner positioning, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG is expected to carry a normally-aspirated version of the company's new twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 delivers 563 horsepower That in the revamped 2011 S63 sedan and CL63 coupe. As in the SLS, it will mount at the rear as a trans axle, integrated with the differential, but will be updated with a weight-saving aluminum housing and, for faster shift action, revised electronics. As the brand Trista's putative 911-beater, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG will doubtless share other features under-skin with the SLS, though not Necessarily the exact same hardware. At a minimum, look for an aluminum-intensive 4-wheel independent suspension with double wishbones and anti-squat/anti-dive geometry, an anti roll bar at each end, and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and an anti skid system integrated with the traction offering driver-selectable control Normal, Sport, and Off settings. A firmer performance suspension is a Likely option.

Though it's still early days yet, we suspect cost concerns will deny the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG SLS Innovations at least two: a carbon-fiber drive shaft and magnesium seat shells.  Again Because of cost, however, these brakes would probably be an SLC option, rather than standard. State-of-the-art ceramic-composite disc brakes are available for the SLS and Could be listed for the SLC as well, if only for bragging rights against the Porsche 911 models That offer them too. Called "Magic Ride Control" - a real 1950s Detroit name, that - it's described by Britain's CAR magazine as "an evolution of Mercedes active body control device the which employs a camera scans the road for potholes and other irregularities. We also imagine the fixed-roof SLC offering a version of the photochromic "Magic Sky Roof" available for the smaller Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class 2-seat coupes and convertibles, the which is also slated for the next-gen SLS.
